Chaos Blossoms was the second installment of our climate-informed seasonal parties. In a time of rising temperatures, spring’s age-old rhythms and cross-species collaborations become plagued by misalignment. Taking place at storied NYC nightclub Nowadays, Chaos Blossoms brought participants into the darker sides of spring through guided meditation, ritual, immersive installation, and dance. The project was grounded in the symbology of Nowruz, the Persian New Year taking place in Spring. We built on the material language of Nowruz to create an installation that spoke equally of rebirth and unrest.

DJ Sii Sii guided the room on an immersive sound and movement journey, while cy x of pleasure ceremony offered participants private eco-sensual sessions. We composed an original score with a spoken meditation that led participants on a journey into our new spring. A fountain and lush garden filled the dancefloor, the materials a freaked version of the Nowruz Haft-sin table–charred garlic, a dead fish, apples, cracked eggs, flowers. Participants were invited to play with the garden and add to the fountain’s waters. At the evening’s close, we gathered the waters and brought them to the soil outside, watering the gardens with our shared dreams and griefs.
